| Rubblebucket Orchestra | ![]() |
Rubblebucket is a nine-piece polyrhythmic dance/rock band led by trumpeter Alex Toth and fronted by the alluring vocals of Kalmia Traver. Comparisons have been drawn to Talking Heads, Fela Kuti, Bjork and James Brown, but Rubblebucket's afro-beat inspired, trip-rock soul experience is beyond classification. In addition to winning Relix Magazine's Jam-Off competition in July 2008, Rubblebucket was recently named "Best New Band of 2008," by Seven Days Vermont. The title had previously been held by GRACE POTTER & THE NOCTURNALS (2005, 2006) and PHISH (2003, 2004). |

| Paranoid Social Club | ![]() |
Paranoid Social Club may be the name of the band started by long time collaborators Dave Gutter (vocals, guitar) Jon Roods (bass, keyboards) and Marc Boisvert (drums) but it’s much more expansive than an array of melodies, chord progressions and arrangements. Call it an alliance, dub it an association, refer to it as a collective, hell, even label it a cult, but know it’s more than merely a musical melting pot. To the thoroughly road traveled trio with intricate proficiency in every area of their craft, the PSC’s central essence lies in the ability to connect with its fervent followers. It’s a relationship the guys have been tirelessly forging throughout an array of intensely personal performances, undeniably relatable lyrics, after show hospitality and shockingly down to earth demeanors. And what a long, strange trip it’s been, starting with the pre-adolescent friendship and musical tinkering by Gutter and Roods, which expanded into a sea of incarnations (including time in the celebrated Rustic Overtones and a tag team with the iconic David Bowie). But no matter where the artistic soul mates and their cohort Boisvert have traveled, Paranoid Social Club has been the most perfect match, allowing for no holds barred expressions of unclassifiable greatness and ambitious experimentation. Such impressive groundwork was first laid down in 2002 with the aptly named Axis II album, which earned regional praise, including Gutter’s title as the Portland Phoenix's Male Vocalist of the Year for their "Best Music Poll 2003." Two years later the cleverly titled double disc Axis III & I hit streets, spawning the single “Two Girls,” which remained a top request at radio that summer. From there, radio stations such as WCYY and WEQX crowned them with a spot in their Top Ten Songs of 2004, followed by a sweep of the Portland Phoenix's "Best Music Poll 2005." Titles of distinction include Best Act, Best Male Vocalist (Gutter), Best Song ("Two Girls"), Best Radio Rock Act and Best Album (Axis III & I). Such momentum has yielded a return trip to the studio to put the finishing touches on 2005’s explosive national debut, known for its aura of enthusiasm, intrigue and entertainment value within a remarkably diverse spectrum. |

At the ripe old age of 5, Roots Nation is making remarkable strides and grabbing a rapidly growing fan base throughout New England. The band formed in November of 2003 when a group of seven seasoned musicians of varying musical backgrounds and interests came together to forward the one style of music they all shared a common love and vision of - Roots Reggae. Their music is infectious and to say the music will have your feet aching to dance would not be a stretch in the least. They combine elements of old school ska, lovers rock, rock steady, and roots reggae and blend it together with some american musical spice like rock and hip hop and BAM - You're tapping your foot and shakin' your booty before you realize it. |

| Dan Walker | ![]() |
| Dan Walker is quite simply one of the finest singer/songwriters on the Seacoast. He's got three records to his credit, with the latest, "Beautiful," being the best representation of where he's at, and where he's headed as an artist. The album's title basically says it all. Walker takes from his own life experiences and turns them into beautifully crafted, soulful tunes of the absolute highest quality. He's got a voice that belongs smack-dab in the middle of popular radio's programming, but it feels so good on the local level picking up steam on stations such as WSCA-LP 106.1 FM. |
|

Whether it’s hip-hop medleys, classic covers, a cappella numbers, acoustic soul-tunes or extended funk-jams, the diversity of Duty Free coupled with their dedication to quality live performances continues to attract even the most prudent of listeners. |
|
| VulGarrity | ![]() |
Though you’d never know it by listening to them, VulGarrity have a few things in common with 70’s soft rock superheroes The Carpenters. A multi-instrumental brother and sister team born and raised in Connecticut, experimenting with a number of different band lineups for years before coming to the realization that they’re better off as a duo. Having reached that realization and redefined their sound, they are continuing on their completely relentless mission to play music and have a good time. Sticking to that mission has earned them some noteworthy accomplishments over the past several years - airplay on both XM and Sirius satellite radio, as well as MTV’s hit show “Made”, nationwide tours that have brought them from East to West Coast and back again, sharing the stage with a diverse range of acts (The Misfits, Sponge, Mike Doughty, Days of the New, King’s X, The Prodigals, etc.), and so on. More importantly, they continue to create music together and capture audiences with their borderline schizophrenic, highly energetic instrument-swapping stage show and captivating demeanor. The future is bright for this pair of non-conformist, left-of-center siblings with an undying itch to put their artistic stamp on the world. As the Carpenters so famously said, “We’ve Only Just Begun”. |

| Ryan Ordway | ![]() |
Singer/songwriter Ryan Ordway first realized his love of music at sixteen while leading friends in sing-alongs around campfires in his hometown of Wakefield, New Hampshire. Inspired and encouraged by his uncle, Danny Wilde (of the band The Rembrandts), Ordway made what started as a fun way to entertain friends into a way of life. "Music's the reason I wake up in the morning." says Ordway. "It's what I'm wired for." Having penned over one hundred songs and garnering national acclaim with his previous bands, Ordway has finally struck out on his own. In the Spring of 2008 Ordway entered Boston's legendary Q Division Studios to record his first solo EP. With one of Boston's best backing bands, The Brightwings ("Real World", "Medium", "Ghost Whisperer"), engineer Rafi Sofer (James Taylor, Juliana Hatfield, Mission of Burma) and Danny Wilde handling the mixing, Ordway recorded what is by far the best work of his career. |

| The Fiends | ![]() |
Together since 2003. One time during the middle of a show we were flashed. Another time someone's mom tried to hit on the bass player. The Drummer and Guitar player are brothers and the Bass Player and Singer are In-Laws. We have played all the best venues in NH including the Stone Church, The Rochester Opera House, The Dover Brickhouse, Redhook Brewery, Muddy River Smokehouse, The Press Room, The Page, Millys Tavern and a bunch of other places that we can't remember. So far in 2009 we have taped an episode of PFG-TV at MCAM studios in Manchester, NH, made our first trip to Boston (and KILLED IT!), have booked a couple of shows at the best new bar in Portsmouth (Ri Ra), and have been welcomed back to the summer music series at Paddy's American Grille on the Pease Tradeport in Portsmouth (www.paddysgrille.com). We have also become regulars at the Prime Time Sports Bar in Seabrook, NH....a surprisingly clean and disease free bar with the hottest bar staff this side of the Mason/Dixon line. |
|
| Superfrog | ![]() |
Superfrog's chest jarring bass riffs, wailing guitar jams and incredible lyrics alone could stand the test of time as a modern sounding rock-jam band. Add in the flavor of superb vocal harmonies, a pinch of brass goodness and a whole helluva lot of solid rhythm and you have yourself a sound that is evolving into one of the Northeast's hottest acts. Comprised of 6 members with various backgrounds and influences, the talent that presents itself each time the band takes the stage is certainly as impressive as their rock/jam forefathers. Crafty lyrics coupled with unconventional, creative musical arrangements sets Superfrog apart from many of the other rock bands hailing out of the New England region. With a strong inventory of original tunes and a host of covers, Superfrog's line-up of music will keep you rocking long into the night. |

| One Fine Morning | ![]() |
OFM has already built a strong fanbase in New England, playing such famous venues as the Paradise Rock Club & the Avalon in Boston, and the Lion's Den & Knitting Factory in NYC. Their first studio album 'On My Way By' was released after only a year and set the foundation for a long path for One Fine Morning. One Fine Morning's sound and musical energy is formed from five very distinct musicians coming together from five different musical backgrounds and from around the country. A singer/songwriter from outside NYC with a percussive acoustic guitar style and earthy vocals. A funk and groove bass player from New Hampshire and his longtime friend on electric guitar. A blues and rock pianist from Boston's North Shore and a funky drummer from Wisconsin. More amazing than the story of the musicians that make up OFM is the sound they create together. A blend of folk, funk, roots rock and world music, One Fine Morning creates a sound and style that is quickly becoming a heavy presence in the New England music scene. |

Todd Royce Morton grew up in the small-town art community of Brattleboro, VT, during the burgeoning commercial blues boom and pop cleverness of the 1980s. His formative years are characterized by these popular trends and an innate interest in 1950’s bebop and 1960's psychedelic blues-rock. Todd was embraced early on in his hometown as an up and coming talent, through newspaper features and sold out concerts. A guitarist since the age of 7 and a singer-songwriter since the age of 12, Morton is equally comfortable in his roles as electric guitar slinger, band frontman, and acoustic troubadour. Blues, rock, jazz improvisation, and pop music form the foundation of the [now] Maine resident’s sound, whether he's playing solo, with the Todd Royce Trio, in his four-piece function band "FunkyTown" or as a sideman. The breadth of his experience and performance formats is a testament to his musicianship and appeal. |
